It is believed that the Maa Baglamukhi Temple at Nalkheda which is located within Nalkheda, in the Agar Malwa district in Madhya Pradesh, is one of the oldest and most respected Shakti peethas that are found throughout India. It is widely believed to be the first and most powerful place of Maa Baglamukhi devotion. The temple has an important place within this Shakta Tantric tradition that spans several years.

According to the legends the origins of the temple go back to Satya Yuga, when Maa Baglamukhi herself appeared at this exact location to ease an enormous global storm which threatened the entire of the creation. The divine manifestation created Nalkheda as a location with a powerful spiritual energy; it is a place where goddess's spirit is believed to remain active and alive.
